“Aint a woman alive that can take my mama’s place”
Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur has died at the age of 69. According to reports, the police department responded to a call to report a cardiac arrest at Afeni’s estate in Sausalito, CA around 9.43pm. She was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead at 10.28pm.
The police department says the coroner will investigate to determine the exact cause of Afeni’s death.
Afeni was a music businesswoman, philanthropist, political activist and Black Panther. She acted as her own criminal defense attorney after being accused of taking part in numerous bombings as a member of the Panthers.
Afeni was very much involved throughout Tupac’s career, even after he passed away. This is when she started the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation which provides art programs for young people, and Amaru Entertainment, the holding company for all Tupac’s unreleased material. She also approved of the biopic “All eyez on me” which will show us the life of her son, Tupac Shakur.
